A legendary Night in the history of Football: “LA NUIT DES VETERANS DU FOOTBALL''

 

Last Friday was marked a legendary night in history as top football stars from around Africa witnessed the second edition of the night of football legends, dubbed “LA NUIT DES VETERANS DU FOOTBALL. The event was held in the economic capital town of Cameroon, Douala and gathered not only iconic footballers, but high profile officials and well wishers. This event which aims at recognizing and rewarding football legends, was organised by ''the football forever association". Many stakeholders and invitees were present at the Saphirs Hall in Akwa.


The Governor of the littoral region, Mr Samuel Ivaha Diboua chaired the occasion and other great personalities present were: His Excellency Ambassador Roger Milla; Bell Joseph Antoine; James Debbah National Coach of the Lone stars of Liberia; Samson Siasia, former Coach of the Nigerian National Football team the Super Eagles; Supersports female reporter, Usher Komugisha; Kamdem Stanis Las and many others.


Awards of honour were attributed to some football legends for their outstanding contributions to the soccer history and especially for the promotion of our African football history.
His Excellency George Opong Weah was recognized to uplifting the status of a footballer (to a president) the award was received by his representative, Mr James Debbah who is the current head coach of the Liberian male football team. Samson Siasia and James Debbah were recognized for valuable coaching. Usher Komugisha; Ngando Pickett and Kamdem Stanis Las were also recognized for their commitment and passion for football.


Four journalists, Geoff NgwaTimeni MauriceFuda Atangana and Eboa Elame were awarded for their professional tenacity.


Calvin Fouading was also awarded and recognised as a Symbol for National Integration.The daughter of late football legend and founder of Eclair football club of Douala, François Bahoulikin received an award on behalf of her father who was remembered for his outstanding contributions to the Cameroon football history as he produced many of the nation's great footballers like; Milla Roger, Thomas Nkono, Mbom Ephraim, Eugene Ekule and many others. The award was handed to Agathe Nanga by Roger Milla who shared tears handing this trophy. He even said he couldn't hand this award without all the other legends on stage, thereby inviting all the other legends to join him hand this trophy of honour. The stage was filled by legends of football and was truly emotional!


This event was also highly attended by companies who showed their support to promote football such as Les Brasseries du Cameroon, Pullman Douala Rabingha, Beneficial Life Insurance, Icon Pro, CUD, PAD, Doro Football Academy and many more!


This recognition for excellence would not have been possible without the dedication and input of Njomo Kevin, the founder of La Nuit des Veterans. Like always he put both hands on deck to bring together the big names in African football for an incredible celebration. Kevin received an award for this wonderful initiative and the role it plays in  the football society. The bar is set high, for the upcoming third edition.
