Aviation! ET Starts Flights to Durban

Commenting on the start of the new services, Ethiopian Group CEO, Tewolde GebreMariam, said, "As a Pan-African airline working to bring Africa together and closer to the entire world, we are bullish on the prospects of continuous expansion of our reach in our home market Africa, and beyond. With continuous service to South Africa for over 22 years, this new and additional service will give passengers additional choice and flexibility by offering seamless and convenient connections through our main hub in Addis to more than 90 destinations in five continents.”

Tewolde added, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank our fellow Star Alliance partner, South African Airways, Dube Trade Port, ACSA, KZN’s Economic and Tourism Development departments for their relentless support to make this new operation a reality.” Durban is the second largest metropolitan city and the second most important manufacturing hub in South Africa. The city’s warm subtropical climate and extensive beaches also make it one of the main tourism destinations in Africa.
ET has been expanding its destinations and building on its service quality over the years reaping the rewards of its hard work along the way. On December 10, 2015, the Airline was honored as “Best Airline to Africa”, for a second year in a row, and “Best Airline in Africa” by Premier Traveler, one of the most prominent travel magazines in the US. Receiving the awards at a ceremony in Los Angeles, California, Ethiopian Group CEO, Tewolde GebreMariam, said, "I am very pleased to receive these awards on behalf of the more than 9,000 strong men and women colleagues at Ethiopian Airlines and I congratulate them for this achievement.”
