54 Kingdoms Clothing Brand Closed Out 2014 In Grand Style.

Kwaku Awuah, and Nana Poku of 54 Kingdoms clothing brand closed out 2014 in grand style. The Ghanian designers presented a night of African fashion and music for StoryTellers in Fashion. The event took place at the Farafina Cafe and Lounge in Harlem NYC on 20, December 2014. This third annual event celebrated the Score for Unity (SFU) collection released to celebrated the five countries (i.e. Algeria, Cameroon, Cote D'Ivore, Ghana, and Nigeria) that represented Africa at the 2014 World Soccer Championship in Brazil.

A multi-media presentation took attendees through the creative process and concept development of the collection. Nana, and Kwaku explained the Pan African ideals that

influence their concepts. the presentation ended with a screening of the promotional video for the SFU collection.

It was a great night of celebrating African arts, culture, and fashion. There were moving performances from musical guests Rafiya, and Chris Akinyemi. Moving and thought provoking poetry from Frank E. Brady, and the exceptional work of visual artist Alphaio Jallow. In addition to the performances we must also give credit to the superb work of Dj Kieran, and Dj TK. The event was supported by the sponsorship presence of Vita Coco Coconut Water. Guests were treated to a sampling of products that reflect a healthy, and natural alternative to refreshment.

Another highlight of the event was the painting created by Alphaio Jallow that was put up for auctioned. Proceeds  would go to benefit the organization; African Youth Excellence. Once the bidding opened two Kenyan ladies who were friends started a friendly bidding contest. The painting finally went to one of the friends. 54 Continues to be an innovative, socially conscious company that is setting an example for what is possible for African fashion brands. As they are fond of saying "it's not a brand it's a "Kulture."
