ASD Griffins Make WAISAL All-Star Soccer Team

The American School of Douala (ASD) high school soccer team players, Joseph Makamdop (Boys Team) and Reina- Marie Tchami (Girls team) have been selected for the WAISAL All-Star Soccer Team. They were selected following an outstanding performance at the just ended West African International School Activities League in Dakar, Senegal.

The ASD soccer teams, fondly called Griffins, competed against other WAISAL members countries; Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Ghana, in the biggest WAISAL tournament yet. The high school boys soccer team started off with a 3-2 win over the American International School of Nouakchott. Reina-Marie Tchami led the women’s team scoring all goals against very stiff competition throughout the tournament.
Open to all International schools in West Africa, WAISAL aims to promote and coordinate opportunities for student exchanges in the fields of academics, arts, and athletics. These activities are vital for the physical, emotional, creative and intellectual development of students.
ASD strives to encourage students from all religious and cultural backgrounds to reach their maximum potential. The school ensures this by providing quality U.S. style academic program and extracurricular activities in a supportive, multicultural setting. Congratulations Griffins!
