Ethiopian Airlines Cameroon celebrates the First Flight of Twelve (12) Cameroonian Trainee Cabin Crew!

What a coincidence! On the 8th of April 1964, Ethiopian Airlines initiated its first flight and on the same day in 2016, Ethiopian Airlines Cameroon celebrates the first flight of 12 Trainee Cabin Crew staff. In October 2015, ET recruited 42 Cameroonian Trainee cabin crew staff, of which 12 started the training 4 months ago. As the mother company celebrates its 70th anniversary at Bole International Airport, the entire team in Douala Cameroon joined them in this celebration, but also in the celebration of first flight of these young cabin crew staff.

It was a festive celebration as family and friends turned up to bid their relatives a save journey. It was also a very emotional experience for most, as tears and hugs were exchanged. The look on their faces made the entire ET Cameroon team very proud to witness this historic moment. It is indeed, a great step towards achieving ET corporate vision. This departure was covered by major media houses including, TVs, radios, newspapers, blogs and vlogs. It is no doubt important to state that every 8th of April is going to be very significant to the families in particular and the entire Cameroonian community in general.
As Mr Tewolde Gebremariam, Group CEO of ET, said “Seventy years is a long time, but Ethiopian is still young, strong, forward looking and ready to contribute its own share of an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena in line with the African Union agenda 2063’.

Recruiting an additional 42 Cameroonians to our rapidly growing airports and office based staff of 50 Plus employees is definitely a giant step towards achieving this objective and also shows that ET is giving back to the countries it operates in.
With the strong mission of bringing Africa together and closer to the world, Ethiopian has expanded much needed air connectivity within Africa and with the rest of the world in the last 70 years. Leading the way in the past, present and the future; ET understands the need to diversify its workforce to accommodate some employees from different cultural background. This will help in serving our customers better, sharing our culture with others and improving the standard of living for many.
Every single day, ET operates 240 flights with an efficiently designed network of connectivity through its main hub in Addis Ababa with 76 aircraft in service. Along with its Star Alliance partners, it cover the entire world. What a great opportunity, to have these young recruits on board serve our prestigious client base and drive our vision forward.
We wish them well as the take up this new journey.
