The 6th Edition of The Corporate Awards is set to take place in Douala, Cameroon

In 2019, The Corporate Awards was organized in Senegal and Cameroon, making it the first time for it to be organized in two different countries in the same year. The Corporate Awards aims at recognizing excellence in people management in corporate Africa with the maiden edition launched in Cameroon in 2016. Thereafter, other editions have followed in Gabon in 2017, Ivory Coast in 2018. Cameroon is set to host the 6th edition on December 04th, 2020 at the Kia Motors Showroom, Bonanjo, Douala.

This Pan African movement is an initiative of FabAfriq Media Group which aims at encouraging positive change, innovation, creating role models and providing a platform for people to excel. Headed by a Board of Directors made up of top executives from different sectors, it is a platform for companies to leverage their strengths and collaborate to impact initiatives, campaign for best practices, influence and crack unsolved challenges faced by both the employers and the employees with regards to people management. The process consists of nominating companies from different sectors to compete in the five award categories. The winner in each category is chosen via tallying public votes and through internal research content analysis.

Over the years, reputable companies from various sectors like Addax Petroleum, Sobraga Gabon, SUNU Assurances, Continental Reinsurance, Ecobank (Cameroon and Gabon), Biopharma, Yoomee, United Bank of Africa, Publicis One, Zenith Insurance amongst others have been part of this change project. True to its HR goals, after each edition, participating companies are required to review their HR policies and redefine internal policies to give them a better chance at competing in subsequent editions. Also, winning companies are recommended to share their strategies with other companies in a bid to serve as a benchmark for these companies as well as ensure the general growth of the economy with more efficient HR policies which is the major goal of the award.

Beyond celebrating excellence in people management, this year’s special edition rewards companies who developed and engaged in governmental, community, departmental and employee-led Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives amidst the global pandemic.

Like past editions, this year promises to have over 50 participating companies plus a wide international and local media coverage. The Corporate Awards gala night will consist of a speech from the President of the Board of Directors, handing over trophies to companies, dining, wining, animation and networking.
