He is one of the most selfless and down to earth celebrity you can think of. Gnégnéri Yaya Touré, born 13 May 1983, known as Yaya Touré, is an Ivorian professional footballer playing as a midfielder for English club Manchester City and the Ivory Coast national team.

Touré’s love for football started at his tender age. He  began his playing career in an Ivorian club, ASEC Mimosas, where he made his debut aged 18. He played as centre back for FC Barcelona during the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final, and frequently plays as a box-to-box midfielder for clubs and country. Throughout matches, he switches from defensive and attacking positions. Touré was voted African Footballer of the Year for 2011, 2012, 2013 and now 2014

Yaya Touré has been a regular member of the Ivory Coast national team since his debut in 2004. He participated in the 2006 World Cup with Les Eléphants de Cote d’Ivoire.
In 2006, he appeared for les Éléphants in all three of the team's matches at its first ever World Cup. In the 2010 tournament, he again appeared in all of Côte d'Ivoire's matches, scoring the opening goal in a 3–0 win over North Korea. He has represented Côte d'Ivoire at five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments; in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013. In the 2006 and 2012 editions, the team ended as runners-up. Touré was named in the CAF's team of the tournament in 2008 and 2012.

Touré made his third World Cup appearance during the 2014 competition, and captained the team in their opening match  with a 2–1 victory against Japan in which he was named man of the match by FIFA. He has taken part in Ivory Coast’s qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Midfielder Toure scored 20 goals in City's title-winning campaign and has nine goals in 26 appearances for City in all competitions so far this season, including six goals in his last nine outings.

Toure also made the Fifa shortlist for the 2014 Ballon D'Or prize in October and is now winning the title for the fourth time.
